THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY
a. Overview.
The General Assembly is the supreme decision-making organ of the Association of Gaming Regulators in Africa. It provides strategic leadership and overall policy direction for the Association, ensuring that the collective goals and objectives of Member States are achieved in accordance with the Establishing Treaty.
Through its ordinary and extraordinary sessions, the General Assembly serves as the principal platform where Member States meet, deliberate, adopt decisions, and set priorities that guide the work of the Association and its subsidiary organs.
b. Composition.
The General Assembly is composed of all Member States of the Association, each represented by a delegate appointed by the national authority responsible for gambling regulation. In cases where such an authority does not exist, the Government designates a competent public body to appoint the representative.
c. Functions
The General Assembly serves as the principal governing organ of the Association, responsible for guiding its strategic direction and ensuring the fulfillment of its objectives as set out in the Establishing Treaty. It determines the general policy framework, reviews and approves annual programs of activities and oversees the overall performance of the Association.
d. Meetings
The General Assembly convenes in ordinary session once each year to review progress and may hold special sessions when necessary to address emerging issues affecting the Association and the gambling regulatory landscape in Africa.
